Nick runs the Wells Funds, a group of high yield private debt funds, as well as several global FX and interest rate managed accounts. He is also CEO and a Director of the firm.

Biography

  • Nick is CEO of Fieldhouse and a portfolio manager with over 22 years of investment management experience in both Europe and North America. Nick has held a variety of senior management roles for some of the world’s largest asset managers, investment banks and hedge funds. He has successfully managed institutional and high net worth client accounts with a focus on a systematic approach to investment in global futures markets.

Philosophy

  • Nick firmly believes that a disciplined investment process founded in sound risk management will outperform in the long term. The quantitative approach gives portfolio managers an evidence based foundation for their investment thesis and rigorous tools to implement trades and manage their portfolios. It's a no nonsense pragmatic approach to investment that removes some of the emotion from owning specific positions. Nick believes it's better to engage in refining the long term process which includes finding repeatable sources of return, identifying and managing risk as well as researching innovative ways to build portfolios that can consistently generate meaningful risk adjusted returns.

Strategy & Investment Approach

Nick runs a systematic currency and interest rate model that uses several fundamental, economic and statistical models to predict relative value in markets. Models have a variety of time horizons, investment foundations and assets that create natural diversification controlled by a rigorous risk management system. In addition Nick offers clients a long term lower risk mandate as well as managing several funds part of the Wells Asset Management acquisition that focus on private and higher debt instruments.
